Cinema is an open-source, novel framework built on top of ParaView that couples processing exporters and a client user interface for output analysis using images or other types of reduced data. Cinema captures images based on several camera positions and filter configurations. The overall design of Cinema was discussed in the paper ‘An Image-based Approach to Extreme Scale In Situ Visualization and Analysis‘. A Cinema Database is a collection of data that supports this image-based approach to interactive data exploration. It is a set of images and associated metadata. The Cinema Database Specification is available on the Download page of the CinemaScience.Org website.
